A timer that collects nothing
Focus Dial Timer (the “app”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information the app handles, and how.
Information we collect
The app collects no personal data, and its developer operates no server.
- Focus session records (start time, elapsed duration, completion status) are stored on your own device and in your own iCloud account. They never pass through a server belonging to the developer, and the developer cannot read them.
- Records sync through Apple’s CloudKit private database so that you can pick up your history on any device signed in to the same Apple ID. That storage belongs to your iCloud allowance. Turning iCloud off on a device stops syncing, and records then stay on that device only.
- These records use Apple’s App Group feature so that the app and its home screen widget can share data within the same device.
- The app never asks for or collects any information that could identify you — no sign-up, no login, no name, email address, or phone number.
Why the app requests device permissions
- Notifications — used solely to alert you locally when a focus timer ends. These are not server-sent push notifications, and the app sends no promotional notifications.
- Audio playback — used solely to play the alert sound when a timer completes.
Third parties, advertising, and tracking
- The app uses no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking tools.
- Because the app collects no personal data, there is nothing to share with a third party.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at any particular age group. Because it collects no personal data from any user, the same treatment applies to everyone, including children under 13.
Future changes
If paid features such as a subscription (in-app purchase) are added in the future, payment will be processed exclusively through Apple’s App Store payment system, and the app will never collect card details itself. If this policy changes, we will update this document and announce it within the app.
